"Big Bang member Daesung will suspend all promotions until the end of this year, for reasons regarding the fatal car accident on May 31st.

It was revealed that Daesung will take time to self-reflect and atone for his accident on the 31st at the Seoul Yanghwa bridge, acknowledging his responsibility in causing the death of motorcyclist Hyun, following the police’s announcement of the autopsy results.

Agency YG Entertainment had stated, "After the end of May's concerts in Japan, Daesung and the members of Big Bang are resting without any special scheduled promotions", adding "since there are no important scheduled promotions due to no concerts or albums, Daesung's halt of promotions will not affect the team's next step."

However, for the already scheduled Big Bang mini-concert on the 25th at Seoul Nonhyun-dong, Daesung was asked to be excused, and the stage will consist of the other four members without Daesung.

Due to the accident, Daesung's drivers license will be revoked, and it is expected that he will have a trial at the Seoul Southern District Court. The police stated that if an agreement with the family of the deceased Hyun is submitted, Daesung's charges may be reduced.

For some time following the car accident, Daesung was reported to be at a loss for words and look depressed, but not long ago, he began going back to attending his church to pray and receive counseling from the pastor, through which he has been enduring through this difficult time.

In response to the accident’s autopsy result announcement and news of the halt of promotions, netizens are giving encouragement with comments such as, “Please be resolved smoothly”, “I hope you come back brighter”, and “We’ll be waiting for you”."

After few days of Daesung's incident, on June 2nd, Daesung along with company members paid a visit to victim's funeral and agreed to pay the cost of the funeral. I believe that Daesung is in deep pain now due to the incident, hope he can overcome this very soon, we support you Daesung!!

According to local media Dispatch, Daesung made a visit last night to the mortuary of the motorcyclist who got killed in Tuesday’s accident and apologized to the family members. The families of the victim told Dispatch, “Daesung came a little while ago (Thursday night) with YG officials. We got an apology from Daesung and YG, and talked about future funeral arrangements as well.”

Daesung made a visit around 10:30PM on June 2nd with five other YG officials and lawyers. The report said Daesung repeatedly apologized for the tragic accident as some family members demanded a direct apology from him. “Daesung too looked to be in complete agony. At first, the YG official apologized but Daesung couldn’t even say a word. The victim’s acquaintances then asked Daesung to apologize properly, and he went on to apologize to the parents and each family member of the victim, bowing his head,” one of the family members, identified only as “A,” told Dispatch.

Thursday’s meeting was the first between Daesung and the victim’s family since the car accident. Until then, the family members reportedly had not received any calls from Daesung.

“It’s true that we were somewhat disappointed in Daesung. A person just died. And he (Daesung) was involved in the accident. We thought, more than anything, a sincere apology would be the first thing to do,” said A. “But his agency just kept making excuses, telling the press that ‘Daesung was driving at 60km/hr,’ ‘I probably wouldn’t have been able to avoid the victim either.’ Our child is dead and gone, and it was just really frustrating and dismaying to see that.”

According to YG Entertainment, the reason for the delayed visit was due to Daesung’s poor health condition. Following the collision, Daesung was in severe mental pain and was unable to make any type of visit. In fact, he couldn’t eat properly and had no contact with any of his parents or family members. Also the increased public attention caused the delay, YG said.

“YG said it took longer to make a visit because they wanted to come with Daesung. At first, I was mad about it, but after seeing Daesung in person, I felt bad for the young man. He looked really painful. He got involved in such a horrible accident at a young age, and I’m sure it came as huge shock to him,” another family member “B” was quoted as saying.

It was also confirmed that YG and the victim’s family talked about future funeral arrangements. Daesung agreed to take care of all funeral costs, but further details will be arranged after the police investigation gets finalized.

“We heard about the investigation and CCTV reviews. But the most important thing right now is to find the truth. Daesung sincerely apologized and promised to fully cooperate with future proceedings, so we’re going to trust him,” the victim’s family said.

Currently, the police investigation is on-going. Initial reports from the National Forensic Service has been told to the family members only and the police reviewed the CCTV, but nothing has been made official yet. On May 31st, Daesung was involved in a car accident that resulted in the death of a motorcyclist. The motorcyclist was already suffering from an earlier collision and was in critical situation, possibly dead, before being hit by Daesung.

The victim’s family added, “The dead cannot speak. But at least the dead shouldn’t feel victimized. We just hope for a clear investigation and find the truth behind the whole accident. None of the involved parties should feel unfair or victimized. The only people we can trust at this point are the police.”

Big Bang Daesung was involved in a car accident on 31st May morning. I was like OMG when i read it on the news. Daesung if you are reading this, please be strong!! We will be here to support you no matter what!!! Here's some updates on the accident. All sources credit to bigbangupdates:

ORIGINAL ARTICLE: Big Bang's Daesung has been reported to be involved in a serious car accident, with the other party involved being pronounced dead at the scene. It was reported that at 1:40AM in Seoul, Big Bang's Daesung hit a motorcyclist in his Audi. The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. Youngdong Police have announced that they are currently investigating the singer, as there are suspicions of Daesung being drunk at the time of the accident.

UPDATE 1: It's been revealed that Daesung was not under the influence of alcohol and is currently speaking to police about the accident. Reports have revealed that the man on the motorcycle was hit by a hit-and-run, not by Daesung himself. When a taxi driver stopped to assess the situation and help the motorcyclist, Daesung crashed into the taxi.

There are also conflicting reports that the taxi, once being hit by Daesung, crashed into the motorcyclist killing him. However, it is not clear whether or not this actually occurred and how serious the motorcyclists condition was after being hit by the original car.

UPDATE 2: Police have officially released a statement regarding the car accident. Seoul's Young Deung Po Police Station revealed, "Big Bang's Daesung crashed into a passed-out motorcyclist with his car on the morning of May 31st at Yanghwa Bridge. The motorcyclist was already passed out due to a previous accident when Daesung crashed into him."

Police also contradicted reports that the motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. They confirmed that he was alive, saying, "The motorcyclist has been admitted to the hospital where his death has yet to be confirmed. We are investigating whether or not alcohol was involved."

UPDATE 3: Photos of Daesung's Audi A4 have been revealed through Korean press. The photos show his car's front badly damaged by the car crash. The photos also show a tow truck also picking up the car, it is evident from the photos that the crash was not simply a "tapping", but a serious collision.YG has yet to make a statement on the accident and there has been no information as to how involved Daesung is in the accident. Currently, it is believed that he is being talked to by Seoul's Young Deung Po Police.

UPDATE 4: On the 31st at 1:40 AM, Daesung hit the back of the taxi in front of him while driving down Yanghwa Bridge in Seoul. It has been revealed that fortunately, the taxi driver has had no major damage done to him.
If we go by YG Entertainment's side of the story, Daesung was driving down the first lane, and the taxi in front of him suddenly drove over to the second lane and then quickly reversed back into the first lane, causing Daesung to collide.
As soon as Daesung got out of the car accident, he asked the taxi driver if "he was okay," and the taxi driver said, "I'm not the problem right now. On the first lane, there's a passed-out motorcycle driver who is bleeding, so I tried to escape the situation and then tried to stop to examine it."
After that, Daesung and the taxi driver and currently at the Seoul Police Station being investigated starting from 4:50am.
The police are currently investigating whether Daesung actually hit the motorcycle driver. According to the police, it has not been identiifed whether the driver is dead.

UPDATE 5: Naver News is stating that the motorcyclist is dead, and an autopsy is being scheduled to determine cause of death (other sources are saying that death is still not confirmed).
Police official is quoted saying, “The exact cause of death is not yet known, but Daesung’s charges will vary depending on whether or not his accident caused the fatal injury.”
Daesung was reportedly driving at 60km (37.3miles) at the time of collision.

According to police, around 1:30AM today, Daesung was crossing the Yanghwa Bridge in his car. The taxi in front of Daesung’s car was slowing down to make a left turn, but right then the driver spotted the motorcyclist passed out on the street. He made a quick lane change to avoid hitting the victim and stopped the vehicle to call the police. Another car apparently was running behind the taxi but it discovered the motorcyclist lying on the ground in advance to safely pass by without making any contact. Daesung, however, driving behind the second vehicle, was unable to see the motorcyclist and ended up hitting both the victim and the taxi.

Daesung told the police “I felt a bump in the car so I stepped on the brake, but the brake did not work.” However, the police said, “No skid marks were shown on the spot, so Daesung probably did not step on the brake.”

The issue at hand now is whether the victim was already dead prior to Daesung’s contact with him, or if his death came as a result of Daesung crashing into him. The police have questioned Daesung for five hours this morning and the damaged motorcycle is currently being examined by the National Forensic Service. The police are also looking at the possibility of a hit-and-run accident that could have occurred before the taxi spotted the motorcyclist as they are waiting for autopsy results.
